The objective of GIS4IoRT project is the development of a “plug and play” and cloud-based middleware to bridge the gap between robots and GIS users, enabling seamless integration and visualization of multidimensional IoRT datasets within GIS environments.
The project aims to connect the existing touristic routes Via Belgica, Römerstrasse and Fruitspoor so the visitors can discover all Roman stories in the landscape. 9 hotspots will be (re)developed and connected to these routes, based on a joint narrative in different languages.
The project aims to accelerate the reuse of materials in construction to promote a circular economy. By overcoming obstacles related to data, legal aspects and practical implementation, the project is developing tools for integrating reuse into construction projects, in collaboration with regional and cross-border pilots.
The project aims to create a cross-border energy trading platform for citizens (prosumers) using AI-driven chatbots. These chatbots will manage local energy resources and transactions through blockchain smart contracts, simplifying citizens' access to energy trading by communicating in natural language. The pilots will serve as a model, demonstrating how neighborhoods can collaborate in social trading.
The GIS 3.0 research project explores how emerging Web technologies, particularly Web 3.0 tools, NoSQL document databases, and semantic standards can reshape Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to better manage dynamic, spatio-temporal, and semantic data in complex urban environments. By comparing traditional relational GIS architectures with next-generation, web-integrated solutions, and leveraging real-world use cases from the EcoCityTools project, the research aims to advance a methodological and technical framework for next-generation Geographic Information Systems adapted to the complexities of dynamic, sensor-driven urban contexts.
Le Mapathon propose aux citoyens de collaborer à la production de cartes afin de faciliter le travail humanitaire dans les régions en crise.
This project provides the city of Liège with procedures for extracting urban 3D objects, which are necessary for implementing urban digital twins. The processing chain is based in particular on the application of deep learning methods to Lidar data and orthophotos from the Walloon region. This project won the BeGeo 2024 "research innovation award".
TrackGen, is a research and development project whose aim is to automate the creation of photo-realistic 3D railway simulation environments based on a set of heterogeneous geographical data.
The project name Blockchain4Prosumers - BC4P links two core elements: on the one hand the “Blockchain” technology and on the other hand “Prosumer”.
The project addresses some of the urgent needs affecting Rwanda, taking into account that good quality higher education institutions train good professionals and make a decisive contribution to the development of the education system as a whole.
The proposed project is a collaboration between municipalities, heritage sites, universities, and citizens to strengthen the tourist attractiveness of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (EMR) and the feeling of belonging to it.
What is the quality of cooperation between public-sector bodies, businesses or citizens in our cross-border region? How can we describe the quality of cross-border networks and entities?
This project, based on novel EO-based products and enhanced data sets dedicated to the Black Sea (including ocean color data, coastal altimetry, high-resolution salinity, and sea state information), aims at generating new knowledge and methodology to better assess physical oceanography and biochemical ecosystems, Black Sea level dynamics and trends, and deoxygenation.
The "Coudenberg SIA3D" project involves the 3D modeling of the Coudenberg archaeological site and museum in Brussels, along with the development of an archaeological information system (AIS) connected to the model.
The EORegions Science Shared-Cost project aims to perform a consistent and coordinated set of basic research activities in support to EORegions.
The project "Geodata Quality Assessment Process: application to the Walloon Georeferential" proposes to analyse the workflow of the existing quality analysis process in order to bring it into line with current standards, consolidate it and improve it where necessary.
The goal of EcoCityTools is to provide an integrated decision-support platform, to effectively establish environmental and energy diagnostics at the neighborhood level and to make rehabilitation or development choices.
The third edition of the National Atlas of Belgium is financed by “Belgian Science Policy” (Belspo) in the framework of the program “ATLAS: Exploitation of the results of the socio-economic survey 2001”.
