Flood Wisdom
A greener, low-carbon Meuse-Rhine region
The Flood Wisdom project is a strategic action plan of 11 partners and numerous associated partners in the Euroregion. Regional and local authorities and water boards in the three countries are building on cooperation and results of 35 activities within Interreg EMR project EMFloodResilience (2022-2023). Flood Wisdom will lead to a better forecast of floods, models to respond faster to changes in weather and water across borders. Also new measurement infrastructure and systems, e.g. Flash Flood Early Warning System useful for the EMR region and beyond. Within INBO, shared understanding by nature and river managers and knowledge base desicion making on vegetation management objectives is the goal to further develop the Decision Support Tool for the Common Meuse. It also helps to underpin and re-evaluate a cross-border Vegetation Management Vision. To improve the estimates of river nature targets in the Common Meuse, aquatic and terrestrial, in the ECODYN model, we gather extra data and work together with universities, Rijkswaterstaat and numerous other partners.
